Become Garden Crew

From: ReInvision Huntingdon
RE: Garden Crew Members

Dear Prospective Garden Partner,

The Huntingdon Community Food Garden, on behalf of ReInvision Huntingdon, is seeking businesses, organizations, and local schools that would like to be the primary caretakers, or “Garden Crew Members,” of the Community Garden for the span of one month during the growing season (May-October).  The garden is located on the south-facing slope below the former William Smith Elementary School at the corner of 5th and Moore Streets.  During the 2018 growing season the garden produced over $2,000 worth of produce that was donated to the Salvation Army, the Drop-In Center, Soup Kitchen, and volunteers from Crawford Apartments.  We expanded the garden in 2017, effectively doubling or tripling the garden’s productivity, so our volunteer support was most welcome and appreciated!

A ReInvision Huntingdon representative will be present at most–if not all–of your garden sessions to offer support, training, and guidance, so no gardening experience is necessary.  Duties may include mowing, mulching, planting, harvesting, weeding, and preparing donations. Our garden workdays will take place on Tuesday from 5:30 – 7:00pm or Sunday early evening, depending upon the weather. Additional special work sessions will be announced on our Facebook page or website.

In exchange for your efforts we will add your name to our list of garden supports on-site at the garden and include you in our list of sponsors on our website–not to mention the satisfaction of working outside and supporting your community!

If you’re interested in becoming a partner, please complete the Google Form. Once we receive submissions we will be in touch with additional information.  You may also call 814-502-3700 to inquire about Garden Crew questions. Thank you for your consideration!

Sincerely,
